BYBSA 2nd Week Observations

Entering and Exiting Park

  • Mooney Park has an entrance and an exit.  Please respect and follow the signs that have the flow of traffic.

Umpires+ Coaches

  • It would be a good general practice before the game for umpires to go over league rules.  This will ensure that both coaches, teams, and umpires are on the same page.

Concessions

  • The expectation communicated to our concessions staff is that the concession stand should be open from 5:15 until the end of games.  (during the week)

  • On the weekends the concession stand should be open from the start of the 1st game through the end of the last game.

BYBSA Contact Information

  • If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly.  You can call us at 330-439-4635.  You can also email us at  [email protected].

  • Often times, we can clear up any confusion or misunderstandings earlier before things turn into a big deal.

BYBSA 1st Week Observations

Catchers Gear Safety

  • Any player playing the catcher position (8U and up) should have gear on them for safety purposes.  We have plenty of gear in the bins for the various age groups so please make sure that you are using it and taking care of it.

Equipment Bins

  • At Mooney please look at the labels on the inside cover of the lid.  They should be labeled with a boys baseball or a girls softball label.  There should be 2 boy bins and 2 girls bins.  Please take equipment from the appropriate bin.

  • Please make sure locks are being put back onto the equipment bins.  We have had a couple of cases of bins being found unlocked.

  • Please make sure that all baseball and softball gear is being put back into the appropriate bin.  Make sure it gets back into the bin that it was taken from.

Game Times

  • Please follow the scheduled times of your games.  If your game goes until 7pm, please exit the field so the next game can begin on time.  Please do not start another inning if there is only 10 minutes left.

Rainout Procedure

Pace of Play

  • Please make sure lineups are written out before the start of the games.  We need to ensure that games start on time.  It would also be helpful to have your lineup written in the scorebook, this will help your scorebook keeper.

  • Younger age groups (8U and Younger):  Coaches can bring out a bucket of baseballs to the mound.  Quickly give the kids their allotted swings.  If it is tee-ball, move them to a tee after they’ve used up their allotted swings.  If 8U, player goes back to bench after 6 pitches.

  • It is recommended that all teams do a pinch runner for their catcher regardless of outs.  Please have them prepared quickly for the next inning!

Gamechanger

  • Gamechanger is completely optional.  We are not forcing each team to have one.  We wanted to provide flexibility to coaches based on what they are comfortable with.  If a coach/team would like assistance and instructions getting setup on GameChanger, please reach out and we can help!

Reporting of Scores:

  • Make sure you are reporting your scores to your league commissioner.  We are working on posting these to the website.

Trash bins

  • Trash bins were placed at Huntington on Tuesday night. This issue should be resolved
